Leading the Way Nomination


The Leading the Way award recognizes an NMSU Las Cruces campus faculty, staff, or administrator who “walks the talk” in terms of professional growth, quality focus, mentorship and leadership, in the areas of 1) educational technology 2) blended and online teaching and learning and 3) policy in the following four areas. Someone who is an advocate and change agent in both action and word is eligible for this recognition.

To nominate another person or yourself for this award, please complete the nomination form below. The Online Course Improvement Program (OCIP) Advisory Board will review the applications and score them according to the following areas. Example criteria are included here:

Professional Growth: Participating in professional development programs such as the 1Y+ Fellowship, New2Online Program, Course Development Institute, or being a regular participant in IIQ workshops and presentations.

Quality Focus: Participating in quality initiatives for blended or fully online courses such as Quality Matters. The can include activities such as Quality Matters workshops, becoming a Quality Matters Peer Reviewer, and/or having a course formally or informally Quality Matters recognized.

Mentorship: Being a mentor or providing peer support to colleagues, be it formally or informally. For example, leading a Let’s Talk Online Teaching or sharing at a departmental faculty meeting.

Leadership: Serving on committees such as FACT, STAC, or other policy groups. Please share any other information such as presenting at state or national conferences, writing of articles or blog posts, or promoting best practice in online or blended instruction at department meetings.

Nominations will be taken from August 1, 2017 through September 15, 2017. The nominee will be notified by October 2, 2017, and recognized October 11, 2017 during the annual IIQ Celebration. The IIQ Celebration will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm at the NMSU Fulton Center.
